3 Vallées – A skiing holiday in another dimension 3 Vallées (1300-3230 m)

logo

Les Trois Vallées in the heart of the French Alps has rightly earned its name as the largest integrated skiing area in the world. 332 marked ski-slopes offer a total of 600 kilometres of pure skiing enjoyment. Thanks to around 155 ski-lift installations, the ski-slopes at between 1300 and 3200 metres are reached quickly and easily. The reason: The generous infrastructure of ski-runs and ski-lift installations connects not only the large ski stations at Val Thorens, Les Menuires, Meribel-Mottaret and Courchevel with one another but also the up-and-coming smaller skiing locations at Saint Martin, La Tania and Brides les Bains.

The Belleville valley, with the ski stations St. Martin, Les Menuires and Val Thorens, the Courchevel valley with its tiered landscape districts of Courchevel 1300, 1550, 1650 and 1850 all provide information about their respective heights, and are connected together with the centrally situated Méribel valley into a skiing area. That means: Skiers can experience all three valleys of the skiing area in a single day, also having the choice of countless ski-runs. From easy to difficult runs, there's something for everyone, so that experienced skiers as well as beginners can all enjoy a tour through the valleys. A clever, clearly laid-out signage makes orientation child's play, so that "getting lost" is an outright impossibility. Another advantage is the wide selection of ski-runs to choose from in each of the 3 valleys. Countless ski-runs begin and end practically directly in front of the accommodation, making long journeys to the valley stations unnecessary.

Complete Winter Sport Offer

Something else you can be sure of - in the largest skiing area in the world - is that "white" holidays are secure in the fact of the optimum snow conditions. Taking care of this is a glacier and no less than 2000 snow cannons that make demanding skiing possible right up until the end of April.

Apart from the best skiing conditions, the XXL skiing area in the Departement Savoyen also has more to offer. Countless funparks and their own area for boardercross and halfpipe in each of the three valleys make a winter holiday in Trois Vallées just as attractive for snowboarders as for skiers. Above all Val Thorens, with its 2,300m making it the highest skiing location in the area, is a regular Eldorado for snowboarders, luring 1,500 snowboarders every year in December from across the whole world to the legendary Boarderweek, with competitions, concerts and numerous events. Skiers are also offered extra variety with countless mogul runs, endless deep-snow slopes, demanding tours and the possibility to go heli-skiing. Winter sports and pure nature combined with optimally preserved cross-country skiing trails with a total length of 118 kilometres, or extensive snow-shoe treks on trekking routes of different lengths and difficulty levels.

With four different toboggan runs, which may also be used by everybody at night, Trois Vallées offers leisure of the special kind, as well as the classic winter sports disciplines. No least because of the Tête Ronde toboggan run in Val Thorens, the highest run of its kind in Europe. 6 kilometres long, the Le Toboggan Run starts at a height of 3000 metres, and ends at a height of 700 metres. A journey that takes approximately 30 minutes. There are other toboggan runs – including one for inflatable toboggans, amongst other things - can be found in Courchevel and Les Menuires.

Leisure fun, both on and off the piste.

A perfect skiing holiday in Trois Vallées is not over "Après Ski“. After a day's skiing, the winter sports men and women are offered an extensive range of leisure activities in each of the three valleys. The large and renowned winter sports and ski-location of Trois Vallées invites the visitor to sample countless cafés, restaurants and shops, or an enjoyable stroll or simply hanging out and shopping. For those that want to party, there are lots of bars, clubs and discos to be found in Courchevel 1650 and in Val Thorens. An ideal alternative programme for unpleasant bad weather days can be found at the Sports and Wellness Centre in Val Thorens and Les Menuires, complete with indoor swimming pool, indoor tennis and squash courts, fitness equipment, saunas and steam baths.

Paradise for the little professional skiers

Parents and families will also find their ideal holiday in Trois Vallées. All ski-passes are free for children under 4 across the entire skiing area, and thanks to countless practice and easy slopes, the whole family can learn to ski together, problem-free. And if you're planning a trip just for the adults, there are a selection of guest kindergartens, ski-kindergartens and skiing schools for children at Courchevel 1850, Les Menuires, Méribel and Val Thorens.

Easy Access

Located south of Albertville, Trois Vallées is easy to reach via both the Swiss and French motorway systems. When travelling from the south, take the A41 motorway at Grenoble and then follow the well-maintained N90 to Albertville, which runs parallel to the motorway. When travelling from the north, the best route to take is from Geneva in Swizerland via the N201 to Annecy and from there take the N508 to Albertville. From there, the N90 goes to Moûtiers, which is at the start of the whole skiing area.
