Nature and culture events
Hardly any other winter sports village is known for so many specialities as Alpe d'Huez. Next to the legendary Tour de France-incline and spectacular steep slopes, the skiing area at the edge of the nature reserve Oisans also offers an unforgettable experience in nature. An ice cave located at 2700 meters impresses visitors with its incomparable quietness inside the cave. Ice sculptures created by artists can be viewed and are renewed every year – depending on the ice and the inspiration of the artist. Another highlight to be mentioned are the weeks of light that take place every year in Alpe d'Huez in December, and immerse the entire village into beautiful lighting and Christmassy flair. Next to an ice-skating gala, a large fireworks display, a Christmas organ recital and torchlight run downhill there are many more attractions waiting for you. Alpe d`Huez is less romantic but all the more amusing in January, during the International Festival of Comedy Movie and humorous film.
