Holidaymakers in Les Brévières will not only find they are staying in one of the most picturesque villages anywhere in the French Alps, but also in what has been dubbed the “world’s most beautiful ski area”. This charming little winter sports resort, with its traditional wooden buildings, has fully retained its original rustic feel. However, this doesn’t mean it lacks anything you would expect of a modern ski resort, linked as it is with the “Tignes” ski centre. Located at the foot of the XXL ski area “Espace Killy”, Les Brévières offers its guests direct access to an enormous variety of ski runs, totalling 300km in all.
Visitors have two of the very best ski areas at their disposal. The “Tignes” ski area offers a total of 67 runs, covering a distance of 150km and linked by a network of 47 lifts. Its slopes stretch all the way from Les Brévières at 1550m, up to the Grande Motte Glacier at 3450m. However, for those who venture even further, the entire “Espace Killy” ski region offers an even broader choice: a total of 156 ski runs connected by 88 lifts.

Les Brévières itself is perfectly integrated into the lift network, ensuring easy access to the slopes for its visitors. Skiers heading for the runs have a choice of two chairlifts, one of which a 6-person chairlift, designed to shelter its passengers from the wind. There is then a choice of a blue or red-graded run, both taking their users straight to Tignes-le-Lac, the perfect starting point from which to spend a day exploring the whole “Tignes” ski area, or perhaps even the entire “Espace Killy” region.
The return journey to Les Brévières at the end of the day couldn’t be more straightforward. All it takes is one more chairlift ride from Tignes-le-Lac, and visitors will find themselves at the head of 1 blue, 2 red and 1 black-graded run, all of which will take them directly back down to the resort. These runs are fully operational right up until the end of the season, thanks to a combination of excellent snow conditions and the use of snow cannons. First-time skiers will find a dedicated practice run in Les Brévières, complete with its own (free-to-use) drag lift.
Les Brévières certainly doesn’t lack anything in the Après-Ski department either, with a fine selection of bars, clubs, and restaurants serving both international and local delicacies. As well as its ordinary supermarket, Les Brévières also hosts a daily street market, where shoppers will find a variety of local produce and products on offer.
If, at any time of day, guests fancy a mini excursion to Tignes, rather than heading up onto the slopes, there is both a lift and a shuttle bus available free of charge.
