If you decide on a vacation in the skiing region Evasion Mont-Blanc you will not only enjoy a perfect skiing vacation, but also a trip to the past. The reason: All three skiing villages belonging to the skiing region at the foot of the Mont-Blanc have kept their roots and their original charm.

The old farmers villages Megève, St. Gervais and Les Contamines-Montjoie are characterized by old farmhouses, elegant chalets and lovingly restored villas. The mood and the ambience are accordingly relaxed and cosy. Further highlights of the skiing village St. Gervais are also its Baroque churches and chapels and the numerous sulphurous springs that have made St. Gervais a popular thermal spa village already 200 years ago. The station Les Contamines-Montjoie in the Montjoie-valley offers a 5.500 hectare large nature park where you can marvel at hidden lakes, mountain regions and glaciers, as well as surprisingly versatile flora and fauna.

Regarding winter sports the skiing region Evasion Mont-Blanc is mainly known for its ambitious deep snow slopes and leaves no athletic wish unanswered.

From the slope to the Hammam

The skiing station Megève that belongs to the most meaningful winter sports villages in the French Departement Haute Savoie next to Chamonix in the association „Best of the Alps“ is comprised of three skiing regions. The slopes of the three mountains Jaillet, Rochebrune and Mont d’Arbois are thus covered with no less than 103 lifts that connect the slopes of all three regions. While all three mountains offer cosy skiing meadows and wood passages for beginners, the areas around Megève offer slopes also for advanced skiers. If you take the cable car over the stations Rochebrune/Super-Megève (1753 m) and Alpette (1871 m) all the way to the station „Cote 2000“ (2014 m) you will mainly find ambitious slopes including steep downhills, but also longer and easier tours all the way to Megève. If you start from the middle station of the Rochbrune-mountain „Alpette“ you can also explore the famous „Piste Emile Allais“ that was deemed one of the most difficult downhill stretches of the Alps for decades and today presents itself as an adventure slope reminiscent of old times – including informational signs. A small lift to the station Combloux, a small „sister“ of Megève, over the mountain stations Les Sales and Le Jaillet rounds off the offer of the Megève region.

The rest of the 235 slopes on 400 kilometres of the skiing region Evasion Mont-Blanc are spread onto the slopes around the stations St. Gervais and Les Contamines-Montjoie in the neighbouring valleys of Megève. The highest mountain station of the skiing region Evasion Mont-Blanc on the Épaule du Mont Joly at an altitude of 2.350 meters invites you to travel over the Mont d’Arbois, Mont Joux and the Mont Joly from Megève to St. Gervais and the neighbouring St. Nicolas de Véroce. Professional skiers will find what they are looking for mainly above the Mont Joux on the slopes of the Épaule. The thermal bath St. Gervais invites you to relax in the Hammam and whirlpool after the last downhill run. The region also offers a generous range of slopes thanks to the slightly more remote skiing villages Le Bettex, Voza-Prarion and St. Nicolas de Véroce that are ideally connected to St. Gervais by the tramway du Mont-Blanc.

The third valley of the skiing village, the Montjoie-valley – is located between the Mont Joly and the ice-packed slopes of the Tré-la-Tête-group – including the skiing station Les Contamines. The most versatile area offering the highest snow guarantee of the entire skiing region is located above the village, at the Col das Joly. Deep snow fans and freeriders will enjoy the slopes and variants that are located at altitudes up to 2.400 meters.

The conditions for fans of the Nordic winter sport are just as generous as the Alpine offer of the skiing region Evasion Mont-Blanc. The 75 kilometres of prepared trails include skating trails, two extra long tours in Megève and St. Gervais with 18 and 11 kilometres as well as a high altitude trail at 1.900 meters. Snowboarders value the Freeride and deep snow slopes in the skiing region Evasion Mont Blanc as well as the two snowparks on the Mont Joux and in the vicinity of Combloux that are ideally equipped and well taken care of.

Small athletes benefit from free ski passes throughout the entire skiing region Evasion Mont-Blanc up to an age of 5, children’s lifts and practice area as well as visitor kindergartens and skiing schools for children are available.

Snow golf beneath the Mont-Blanc

Active winter vacation is a large part of the skiing region Evasion Mont-Blanc also apart from the slopes. 130 kilometres of perfectly prepared trails invite you to hike, go on a Nordic walking tour or snowshoe. Several toboggan runs and ice skating rinks are open to all members of the family.

If you are looking for that special something in terms of entertainment you can also use the unique chance to play snow golf, where pink golf balls must be played into holes drilled into the snow. Snow polo, being a tradition in Megève is also exciting to watch. Skiing vacationers can get an overview of the entire skiing region Evasion Mont-Blanc when heliskiing or on a tour in a hot air balloon over the peaks of the Alps of Haut Savoie.
