A skiing holiday with a 5* backdrop
Stretching from an altitude of 1100m up to 1930m, Combloux’s own ski area contains a total of 63 runs, of which almost half are rated as “medium-difficult”. Boundless fun and a relaxing stay are assured by the provision of 34 lifts, which conveniently connect the whole ski run network.
Those that prefer boarding to skiing will find 2 snow parks, catering for snowboarders of all levels – one area (including a “boardercross” zone) in the vicinity of Combloux/Le Jaillet, and another at La Giettaz. The two areas have one thing in common: spectacular views towards Mont Blanc, the Fiz Range and the Aravis Massif.
Cross-country skiers can enjoy 2 designated routes totalling 5.5km in length, as well as a further 70km if they head for Megève.
Apart from all the usual facilities you would expect of a modern ski resort, Combloux also has some more unique attractions on offer. For example, those who have always wanted the opportunity to head out on the snow under the stars can do so, on the floodlit run “Les Garettes”, which is open every Thursday.
A further highlight is the so-called “Vallée Blanche”, a 20km glacier route which takes in a staggering vertical distance of 2800m as it winds its way into the very heart of the Mont Blanc Massif. Guides can take up to 6 skiers at a time on this fantastic adventure through totally unspoilt, ice, snow and stunning natural beauty.
Those on the hunt for an extensive skiing network will find themselves perfectly placed in Combloux. Along with the neighbouring resorts of Megève and Saint Gervais, Combloux forms part of the extensive “Evasion Mont-Blanc” ski region, offering an impressive total of 217 runs, with something on offer for all levels of ability. These runs cover a total distance of 445km, and are linked by 116 lifts.
The ideal winter destination for families
The “Les Portes du Mont Blanc” ski area is perfectly suited to the families and children staying in Combloux. The smallest of guests, as young as 3 months old can be looked after at the day nursery or ski kindergarten if required. The next generation of winter sportsmen and women can also have fun on the numerous toboggan runs, either with parents or under the supervision of staff.
Snowshoe and winter walks through the spectacular landscape, or a ride on a horse-drawn carriage to one of the traditional farmsteads surrounding Combloux, are experiences for all the family to enjoy.
It is also well worth taking the time to visit one of the many markets in Combloux and its surrounding area, where holidaymakers will find a range of regional products on sale.
Combloux’s very own “wellness” centre is the perfect place to spend a relaxing day away from the slopes. Guests can enjoy a Sauna, Hammam and Jacuzzi, as well as a range of beauty treatments, or simply unwind on the terrace, with its perfect view of Mont Blanc.
