La Rosière – Ski paradise without borders La Rosière (1850 m)

logo

The unusual opportunity to cross country borders on skis is offered to ski holidaymakers in La Rosière. Situated on a sunny southern terrace high above the Tarentaise valley, the family-friendly winter sports resort has been connected with the Italian skiing region La Thuile since 1986, and can be used with the same ski pass.

From the ski resort at 1,850 metres elevation to the highest point of the Espace San Bernardo skiing region at 2,650 metres, guests in La Rosière can also admire the unique panorama of the surrounding mountain world, including Mont Blanc. Additionally, the southern orientation of the ski resort near the border delivers a huge amount of sun, which, combined with the traditionally built chalets, ensures a friendly and comfortable atmosphere in La Rosière.

Regarding the network of pistes, the 2-country skiing region Espace San Bernardo has a total of 150 piste kilometres to offer, which are optimally connected by 38 lift systems. Particularly, the cross-border change of skiing regions is possible in only a few minutes thanks to the fast chair lifts Piccolo San Bernardo Express and Fourclaz Express.

Further information

Off-piste arena and heli-skiing

Beginners and experienced skiers alike are very well catered for in both skiing areas within the two countries. Among others, various spectacular descents through forests or past old fortifications from the Second World War await real slope experts. Further highlights of the skiing region Espace San Bernardo are the longest slope San Bernardo, with 11 kilometres, as well as the black pistes Franco Berthod, Le Défi and Touriasse.

In addition to these piste adventures, La Rosière, however, offers two further completely different challenges to powder snow and freerider fans. One is the secured but unprepared off-piste area Le Snow Cross of Zittieux just above La Rosière. For the other, from January to May, expert skiers can let themselves be carried off by helicopter into the untouched powder snow paradises on the peaks of Rutor, Mont Ouille, Fréduaz or the Miravidi glacier from where a mountain guide accompanies them through the breathtaking scenery down into the valley.

Snowboarders can burn off some energy in the skiing region Espace San Bernardo in a snow park with 3 courses with jumps, tables and rails in various levels of difficulty, and on a professional boardercross course. Cross-country skiers find a series of prepared cross-country ski runs of differing lengths and varying difficulties.

Children are also especially well catered for in La Rosière. In additional to special children’s parks, there is also a ski kindergarten and a children’s ski school. It is not without reason that La Rosière is one of the French ski resorts that has received the rating “Les p'tits Montagnards” for being especially child friendly.

Ice climbing and torchlight tour

To ensure that the ski holidaymakers do not get bored even off-piste, there is a wide variety of leisure activities in La Rosière, ranging from snowshoe hikes, snow biking tours, dog sledge trips, paraglider flights and parachute jumping to indoor and ice climbing and special evening events. In addition to night snowshoe hikes, every week fireworks and impressive torchlight tours take place.

For a more cosy evening programme, there are many restaurants, bars, pubs and a cinema available, as well as a total of 9 ski lodges in the piste areas.
