Val Cenis Vanoise – Skiing region for nature lovers Val Cenis Vanoise (1300-2800 m)

Located right at the gateway to the national park Vanoise, a protected environmental area, the skiing region Val Cenis not only offers a large range of slopes of different levels of difficulty, but mainly also just pure nature. Long valley runs through larch and pinewoods belong to the highlights of the region in the area Haute-Maurienne, which has an extremely high snow probability due to its high Alpine location.

The 125 kilometres of slope are located at an altitude between 1.300 and 2.800 meters, forming the skiing region close to the Italian border comprised of the skiing stations Termignon (1300 m) and Val Cenis with its three districts Lanslebourg (1400 m), Lanslevillard (1460 m) and Val Cenis Le Haut (1500 m). In order to be able to move about quickly and conveniently within the skiing region, free ski busses go back and forth in Val Cenis Vanoise between the stations and the cable car. The area is also perfectly connected by a total of 26 lifts.

The cosy and small skiing region Val Cenis Vanoise owes its popularity to the balanced mixture of slopes, ranging from practice slopes and family descents over impressive forest runs all the way to sunny, cleared deep snow slopes, a variety of off piste options and advanced mogul slopes.

Famous practice slopes and legendary off piste descents

Thanks to the good learning slopes at the edge of the village Val Cenis and the largest slope for beginners in Europe, the skiing region in the heart of the Savoy Alps is especially popular among families. Beginners of all ages can gather first experiences on two boards in peace and quiet on the 20 kilometre long practice slope, and are able to enjoy the high Alpine landscape as well.

The skiing region Val Cenis Vanoise also offers several highlights for advanced and professional skiers. Among others, the off piste decent „Le lac“, leading from the highest point of the skiing region, the „L’Ouillon de la Tomba“, down to the „Lac du Mont Cenis“. The tour descent „L’Arcelle“, that crosses a deep snow field over the Northern slope of the „Signal du Grand Mont Cenis“ (3377 m) and enters an advanced forest descent after a passage with smaller hills, later then joining the red slope „Le Pre du Bois“ above Lanslevillard. And not to forget the black slope „Michèle Jacot de La Met“, starting at an altitude of 2.800 meters and is only recommended for courageous skiers.

The skiing region also has 27 kilometres of cross-country trails. Snowboarders will find what they are looking for next to the deep snow slopes in two snow parks.

Regeneration and fun for the entire family is offered not only on the slopes of Val Cenis Vanoise. Especially the traditional Savoy charm of the skiing village Val Cenis puts visitors into a relaxed vacation mood almost immediately. The small picturesque streets set the scene for different stores for shopping sprees, and numerous restaurants where ski vacationers can try the original cuisine of the French Alps.
