Chapelle d‘Abondance - Piste selection from S to XXL Chapelle d'Abondance (1020 m)

logo

In the valley also called Abondance, there is one of the smallest ski villages in the French Alps, Chapelle d'Abondance. Characterised by traditional chalets, wood-clad with carved balconies, and the onion dome of the Baroque church from the 18th century, the friendly ski resort seems to be the prototype of a small, traditional winter sports resort.

At a good 1,000 metres elevation, Chapelle d‘Abondance lies immediately below the summits of “Cornettes de Bise” and “Mont de Grange”, and offers perfect access to the various piste areas. The “village’s-own” skiing region is particularly ideal for beginners and families with children, and offers a more than varied range of pistes. Whoever, despite the huge choice, would like a challenging slope for real experts, can move straight from Chapelle d‘Abondance immediately into the XXL-skiing region of Portes du Soleil.

Mountain panorama plus view of the lake

A total of 75 piste kilometres, connected by 22 lifts, are available to skiers immediately around Chapelle d‘Abondance. With almost exclusively easy to intermediate slopes, new skiers and families are particularly well accommodated here. A highlight of the piste area “La Chapelle/Torgon”, connecting the French and Swiss territories, is without a doubt the unique view of Lake Geneva. This, together with the high Alpine mountain panorama, is an unforgettable experience.

The 16 pistes of the “village skiing region” of Chapelle are distributed over two hillsides. Below the summit of Mont de Grange, there are numerous pistes as well as the snow park for freestylers, which can be reached quickly and easily with a modern 6-man chair lift.

Ski holidaymakers of Chapelle can easily reach the lifts to the Braitaz skiing region, on the other side of the mountain, by car or using the free shuttle bus. With a comfortable cable car, you come to Mont Lieu, from where there are several slopes back through forested hillsides or the slopes of the Swiss ski resort Torgon.

Alternatively, ski holidaymakers can explore the entire skiing region of Portes du Soleil from here. Then, the entire 650 kilometres of piste of all levels are available to you.

Guests in the winter sports resort Chapelle d‘Abondance, who prefer to discover the wonderful environment on cross-country skis or on foot, can look forward to 35 perfectly prepared cross-country kilometres, as well as 85 kilometres of snowshoe hiking trails. Furthermore, for a pleasurable day off-piste we recommend an extended horse-drawn sleigh ride or a detour to the toboggan run.

In order to finish off a day on the piste comfortably, ski holidaymakers in Chapelle d‘Abondance can enjoy over ten restaurants with regional specialities, for example, potato cakes with Abondance cheese. Various cafes and bars also invite you to a relaxing après ski drink.
