There are two reasons why the small winter sports resort of Valfréjus is particularly popular with younger visitors – firstly because it is one of the more reasonably priced resorts in the French Alps and secondly, because of the varied après-ski entertainment on offer at the end of the day in this delightful chalet village. But Valfréjus is equally popular with families and skiers looking for the opportunity to relax – they love the resort’s friendly atmosphere, just right for a pleasant and relaxed holiday experience.

As far as skiing is concerned, visitors to Valfréjus will be spoilt for choice – the resort boasts a total of 65 kilometres of pistes of varying levels of difficulty as well as excellent deep snow, off-piste and mogul runs. And if these are not enough, the ski areas Valloire/Valmeinier and La Norma, just a short distance away, offer a further 150 and 65 kilometres of piste respectively. Skiers from Valfréjus can also directly access the vast Les Trois Vallées ski area via the nearby Orelle ski station.

Après-ski activities to suit every taste

This small winter sports resort has a delightfully authentic charm with its traditional Savoyard-style chalets, so typical of this area. Its traffic-free centre and the fact that nowhere is very far are further good reasons to spend a holiday here and it has the added advantage that it is possible to ski right down almost onto the café terraces as the centre of the resort forms a horseshoe around the bottom of the chairlift.

One of the things visitors to Valfréjus really love is that there is plenty to do in this small resort in the evenings. It has a wide range of restaurants, serving both regional specialities and international cuisine, and several bars in which to enjoy some well-deserved après-ski relaxation. There is also lots going on during the day and a wide variety of leisure activities on offer away from the slopes. Enjoy a leisurely stroll around the local shops or maybe try something a bit more active, such as a snowshoe hike, ice-skating or ice-climbing. For a really special treat, there is also the chance to go on a night-time sleigh ride on Valfréjus’ 2 kilometre-long toboggan run - great fun!. The tourist office in Valfréjus also offers excursions to the nearby border area between France and Italy.
