The piste-district Cirque du Lys is one of the 2 skiing regions, which belong to the winter ski resort Cauterets. Situated in the basin of Lys, the skiing area is regarded as one of the snowiest in the French Pyrenees. A diverse range of 20 slopes with a total length of 36 kilometers is available here to skiers and snowboarders. The slopes in the small but beautiful skiing area between altitudes of 1730 and 2450 meters are connected by 13 lift systems.

Ski-tourists from Cauterets can also get right into the centre of the skiing region (1850m) in just 12 minutes with the Lys gondola lift. Alternatively you can reach the pistes from the car park Le Courbet at a height of 1360 meters with the Courbet gondola lift. Here at the central point inside the skiing region, where a ski-school, a ski-nursery for small children from the age of 3 and a mountain-top restaurant are located, there is a large practice area available to beginners.

In addition to the 20 slopes, which also have a few really challenging slopes and a slalom track, there is also a Snowpark in the middle of Cirque du Lys, which is one of the best in France.

The winter sports region around the ski-resort Cauterets however is not just popular for its range of slopes in Cirque du Lys. The neighbouring skiing region Pont d’Espagne, which is also labelled as the “Small Canada of the Pyrenees”, entices numerous winter holidaymakers, and above all the fans of the nordic disciplines.

There are 5 cross country ski tracks located here with a total length of 36.5km, 6 kilometer hiking trails for snow-show tours, a sledging slope and also 3 downhill slopes; a red, a blue and a practice slope. In the middle of the high plateau in the thick woods of the Pyrenees’ National Park, the Pont d’Espagne region also offers a spectacular panoramic view with wild torrents and an impressive waterfall.
