SuperDévoluy - The Ski-Resort of ‘Short Distances’ SuperDévoluy (1500 m)

Although it was built in 1966, the ski-station SuperDévoluy comes across as very futuristic even today. This is due to the 2 gigantic apartment complexes which dominate the resort, with which the foundations of SuperDévoluy were laid back then. The two-part main building “Bois d’Aurouze” is located directly at the foot of the pistes in a slightly tortuous form and other than that meets the demands of a so-called “station intégrée”, where everything is found under one roof.

For a start, the main building in SuperDévoluy houses over 1000 modern apartments, which all offer a clear view of the ski-region’s summits or the valley in Souloise.

Secondly, there are spacious shopping arcades located in the lower area of the XXL complex with grocery stores, bakers, sports shops, souvenir shops and numerous boutiques as well as restaurants and bars all in one place. There are also service facilities such as a bank, post office and ski-school in Bois d’Aurouze.

Wintersports in All Facets

In terms of wintersports, SuperDévoluy appears to be a true “all-in-one” ski region and offers a wide range of sports and leisure facilities. First of all there is a network of pistes with a total of 100 kilometers and 53 slopes. In the ski-resort SuperDévoluy itself, beginners can find 2 large practice areas with their own lifts plus ideal blue beginners pistes at altitudes of up to 2000 meters. Experienced skiers and off-piste fans can get their money’s worth below the central La Pierra summit at an altitude of 2500 meters.

Snowboarders and freestylers can live it up in the Mushroom Park; the snowpark in SuperDévoluy. There is a boardercross stretch and a slopestyle course for beginners and pros. In the snowpark and at the foot of the slopes in SuperDévoluy there are also so-called “BigAirBags”, large airbeds, which catch skiers and boarders who want to practice their jumps and stunts.

Finally, cross country skiers can choose from 15 different cross country tracks with a total length of 35 kilometers, a few of which also start directly in SuperDévoluy.

In addition to the classic winter sports, ski-tourists in SuperDévoluy can still choose from countless other outdoor activities in the snow. Whether it be classical sledging or riding the “Snake Gliss”, a sort of sledge-train. Going on a snowshoe hike, a dogsled trip or a snowmobile tour. Or whether it be “skijöring” or snowkiting, pulled along either by a horse or stunt kite.

A Warm Welcome is Extended to Families

The “short distances” principle in SuperDévoluy, where you can more or less find everything in the same place is, above all, especially handy for families. Parents can let their children run around carefree in the completely car-free towncentre. Plus the numerous service and leisure facilities specifically targeted at families, to which SuperDévoluy owes the quality label “Famille Plus Montagne”, are also all located centrally.

Young ski-tourists from the age of 15 months can be looked after full-time or part-time in the day care centre in SuperDévoluy and there is a ski-nursery for the up-and-coming skiers aged 3 and above. The children can also live it up in the resort’s play area. Parents can benefit from the local rental services and don’t need to bring bulky equipment such as cribs or prams etc. from home.

Recreational activities are also offered to the “older” ski-tourists. In the daytime there is a fitnesscentre and a bungee-trampoline plus an indoor pool with a sauna and hammam. On top of this there are, of course, numerous cafés with large sun terraces. In the evening ski-tourists have the choice between an amusement arcade, bowling centre and a cinema. Various restaurants and bars plus 2 discos are also popular après-ski spots.
